Maintaining professional and personal integrity are of paramount importance to me and all my work is in compliance with the ethical framework for counselling professions set out by their regulatory bodies.
All communications are kept confidential and all data (personal details and records) are protected to meet the new requirements of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). I work hard to ensure that the above is evident in everything that I do.
My approach is informed by a combination of excellent communication skills and extensive and thorough knowledge of research and theory which allow me to deliver individual therapy, care planning, referrals, successful group facilitation, education and consultancy to those in need.
I use an Integrative approach to draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities and approaches including: Person-Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic & Group Analysis,
Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Relapse Prevention models, Group Therapy, and 12-Step Philosophy.
Clients commencing a treatment program may bring many differences and complexities to the consulting room. I draw from my extensive knowledge and experience to remain flexible and adaptive to the individual’s needs; using the most suitable tools and techniques in order to employ appropriate therapeutic interventions and to ensure that each and every client receives the best possible care that I can offer.
Where it is necessary I offer referrals to other professionals working in specialized areas (ie. Trauma or Dual Diagnosis which are commonplace amongst those seeking help for alcohol and substance misuse) to supplement the clients recovery.
I treat this on a case by case basis, building a bespoke care plan where I may serve as a facilitator or where a more collaborative approach may be required.
